He thought the ends justified the means. Everything about that movie had mirrors, parallel plot points. Ni...I can't believe I've only seen it once! Nice points about the story arc Tony. Probably the biggest problem with the arc in Dark Knight is that he intentionally made Harvey Dent the protagonist. Batman doesn't change throughout the film. At least not as much as Dent. That made his arc less interesting than it could be.
